Update from Nicaragua

Economic sideways movement - uncertain NGO environment

Political-economic situation

CNN's TV signal was blocked in Nicaragua and the last journalists of La Prensa, the traditional independent newspaper, had to leave the country. For some time, the paper could only be read online. The EU ambassador was expelled from the country. In the meantime, more than 2,700 NGOs in Nicaragua have been closed down. We are all the more grateful to have been able to work with BPN in Nicaragua for almost 17 years.

After diving due to the unrest of 2018, GDP in Nicaragua was higher again in 2021 than before the crisis and will continue to rise in 2022. Analysts also expect encouraging growth in the future. What is saddening is the fact that, according to official data, the basket of goods in Nicaragua is 18% more expensive in August than 12 months earlier.

Activities BPN

An event organized by the Entrepreneurs' Association for the "Restaurants" and "Food Producers" sectors, in which many of our active entrepreneurs currently work, was very well received.

The seminars continue to meet with satisfactory demand, and the topics and speakers are appreciated by the participants.
