Sovetbek lives with his family in Karakol. His wife comes from Japan. Before Sovetbek realized his dream of owning his own hotel, he gained experience in the tourism industry. In addition to his work in the Ministry of Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, he worked as a tour guide and translator in a travel agency. For about 6 years he lived with his wife in Japan, where he worked in a traditional Japanese hotel (ryokan). A key experience in 2008 finally prompted Sovetbek to take the plunge into self-employment: when he found a dead mouse in his room at a hotel in Kyrgyzstan, he realized that he wanted to significantly improve the guest service in the country with his own offer. Together with his wife and all their savings, he built a traditional Japanese-style hotel in Karakol in 2016. It has been in operation since 2018 and Sovetbek welcomes his hotel guests there.
Sovetbek's hotel can accommodate up to 60 guests. Sovetbek places the emphasis of the hotel on the quality of sleep and offers guests a quiet and comfortable ambience for the best relaxation. With very good service and breakfast included, the hotel is in the mid to upper price segment. Sovetbek mainly accommodates tourists from Europe and America and generates 80% of its revenue in the high season between April and October.
Sovetbek would like to expand and build a second hotel. He is currently working on a corresponding project in order to obtain financing from a bank. Sovetbek is also planning to drill a well and develop his own source of high-quality water. In addition, he would like to add a laundry and a transport service for guests. We look forward to accompanying Sovetbek in these processes and to welcoming him to a BPN marketing seminar soon.
