Omar grew up in a family of entrepreneurs and was introduced to the business world at an early age, particularly by his father, who founded a hotel in Musanze in northern Rwanda in 2009. Working at the hotel alongside his father awakened a passion for the hospitality industry in Omar, which only intensified over the years. Equipped with a wealth of professional experience, which he had gained through his practical work with his father and his university degree in business information systems, Omar took over the management of the guesthouse from his father in 2018.
Omar recognized the great potential in the Rwandan hospitality industry, which was created by the government's efforts to position the country as a first-class tourist destination and represented a great opportunity for the hospitality industry. Omar seized this opportunity and expanded the business. He added a café to the hotel. He also opened 2 new coffee shops, one in an upscale neighborhood of Kigali and another in Rubavu, a vibrant and touristy region in western Rwanda, to cater to both local and international guests, including business travelers and coffee lovers.
Omar plans to open another branch in the future. For the hotel, Omar's vision is to make it an eco-friendly hotel that contributes to environmental protection and offers its guests a unique, nature-inspired experience during their stay. Despite the growth the company has experienced in recent years, Omar finds it challenging to manage the momentum and maintain the successful growth. He expects BPN to support him in this and provide him with skills in business administration, financial management and marketing.
