Jack is 39 years old and married to Carla. Jack studied electrical engineering, but has always worked in sales. Carla has a degree in industrial engineering and is a qualified optician. Both worked for a long time in a large optician's store in Nicaragua. After the unrest in 2018, the company decided to cut costs by laying off long-standing employees, including Jack and Carla. With their severance pay, the two invested in optician equipment and began offering their services independently to companies so that their employees would not have to make the trip to an optician's store, thus saving time. Jack and Carla also organized sales tours to rural areas where access to optician services was limited.
Their business grew steadily. They invested in modern, mobile devices that they could bring to their customers, setting themselves apart from their competitors. As they grew, they saw the need to open a physical store and rented a small retail space. When they realized they needed administrative support, they turned to the BPN Foundation and received valuable practical help. Jack and Carla say they now have a clear vision and a concrete plan. The overview of their finances has helped them to set clear goals. Their aim is to continue to grow, open additional branches and continue to offer their services directly to companies.
