Otgontuya lives in Ulaanbaatar and has been pursuing the desire to make traditional dairy products accessible to the people of the city in a modern, practical form for many years - especially children. In 2017, she and her partners founded a company that specializes in processing yak milk. From the outset, her aim was to combine traditional production with contemporary packaging and marketing.
The production workshop is located in the province of Arkhangai, around 600 kilometers from the capital. There, where around 65,000 yaks are kept, it works closely with 50 cattle breeders and processes up to 200 liters of fresh yak milk every day. In 2019, she built a workshop to modern standards, followed by the purchase of her own packaging and sales premises in Ulaanbaatar in 2025. Today, she offers 5 to 7 different yak milk products, which are sold in larger markets in the city. She has recently expanded her range to include dried curd cheese (aaruul) in small packages, which is particularly suitable as a healthy snack for schoolchildren.
Her company currently employs 5 people in Arkhangai for production as well as additional staff in distribution and sales in the capital. With her clear vision, Otgontuya wants to supply children and office workers in particular with high-quality dairy products. The next step is to participate in government tenders in order to open up new distribution channels and further increase awareness of her brand.
