Eleven years ago, Mariam founded her own company: a fashion store and exhibition platform for young Georgian fashion designers. Mariam, a fashion designer herself, recognized the difficulties that young designers face in reaching a wider audience. She therefore decided to set up a showroom in her family's residential and commercial building in the chic Vaka district of Tbilisi, where she and others could present their creations. Outfits from 10 different designers are currently on display in her showroom.
In the basement of the house there is a well-equipped tailor's shop where Mariam produces her own fashion line together with a designer from Ukraine and an employed tailor. During production, Mariam attaches great importance to hand-picked, high-quality fabrics, which she buys herself in Turkey. Her customer service is characterized by individual fashion advice and fast service, so that custom-made products or alterations can be realized in the shortest possible time. Another of her specialties is the production of wedding and party dresses.
The last few months have been difficult for Mariam. The decline in international tourism and the falling purchasing power of the Georgian population have led to a drop in sales. Mariam has to find new ways to boost business online and offline. At the same time, she needs to improve her product costing and financial management. This was Mariam's main motivation for participating in the BPN program.
