In the heart of Rwanda's stunning volcanic landscape, Raymond, a 43-year-old entrepreneur with over 8 years of experience in the industry, has dedicated himself to promoting sustainable tourism. After working in a local tourism company, he recognized not only gaps in the offering but also the potential to empower young people in the sector. Driven by his passion for Rwanda and his vision to make an active contribution to economic development, he founded a safari company with his own funds at the end of 2019.
What started as a small team of 3 employees has developed into a company with 20 employees working in both Musanze and Kigali. The majority of the team travel throughout the country as tour guides. Raymond's company stands out not only for its tailor-made travel experiences and high quality of service, but also for its social commitment: in cooperation with the Rwanda TVET Board, it offers practical training courses and teaches young people key skills for a career or self-employment in the tourism and hospitality industry.
Despite challenges such as strong competition, limited access to capital and the balance between growth and sustainability, Raymond remains true to his vision. With the support of BPN and other partners, he is pursuing the goal of making his company a beacon project for responsible tourism and youth development in the country.
