Congratulations on your 10th anniversary! How has your journey with the BPN Foundation developed over these years?
Thank you very much. The last 10 years have been an intensive and very enriching journey. I have grown with the foundation - organizationally, but also personally. Our work has become more and more professional, while at the same time our central goal has remained clear: to empower people to shape their lives in a self-determined way through entrepreneurship. This has shown me time and again how much potential there is in individuals if they are given the right tools.
What were your biggest challenges as CEO and how did you overcome them?
Times of uncertainty were particularly challenging - whether due to political changes in partner countries or global crises such as the pandemic. At such times, it became clear how important trust, a clear set of values and a strong team are. Together, we found solutions that were not only focused on processes, but above all on people.
Is there a project or initiative that you are particularly proud of? Why?
I am particularly proud of the personal support we can offer our entrepreneurs through coaching. This creates a real connection. When we see participants taking on responsibility themselves years later and passing on their knowledge, it's a strong sign that our work has a lasting effect - not only economically, but also on a personal level.
How has the BPN Foundation changed and developed over the last 10 years?
The foundation has developed structurally, strategically and geographically. Our work is now more international and impact-oriented - but the focus is still on people. Our approach has become more individual: We take a closer look at what an entrepreneur really needs in the reality of their life in order to be successful.
What lasting impact has the BPN Foundation been able to have on the communities you work with?
Our programs not only create jobs, but also prospects. We see that empowered entrepreneurs take responsibility for their employees, their families and their communities. This creates trust, promotes stability - and produces a new generation of role models. These social effects are often more sustainable than any economic success alone.
How has your own view of leadership and social entrepreneurship changed over time?
I have learned that good leadership has less to do with making decisions from above and more to do with listening, trusting and developing potential. This is what social entrepreneurship is all about: empowering people so that they can develop solutions for their environment themselves. This attitude is increasingly shaping my management style.
What motivates you personally to remain involved with the BPN Foundation?
I am motivated by the direct exchange with our entrepreneurs. Their stories, their courage, their perseverance - it's incredibly inspiring. I see how much of a difference a supportive environment can make and I am convinced that when people grow, real change happens. That's what drives me.
What is your vision for the next 10 years of the BPN Foundation?
I see BPN as a place where we can reach and empower even more people - including in new regions. We want to further develop our programs without losing the personal touch. Our vision is to strengthen entrepreneurial thinking as a positive, responsible driver of social development.
What challenges and opportunities do you see for the future?
The global challenges are complex - economically, ecologically and socially. At the same time, new opportunities are emerging through digitalization, education and local innovation. Our task will be to remain close to people, react flexibly and work with them to create solutions.
What is your most important message to your team, your partners and the supporters of the BPN Foundation?
I would like to thank everyone who supports BPN - with commitment, ideas and trust. Our success is based on people: on employees, partners, supporters and, above all, on the entrepreneurs who have the courage to take their future into their own hands. Let us continue to work together to turn opportunities into reality.
