Preschool

Isaie M.

While working as an educator, Isaie noticed that there was a missing piece of the puzzle in Rwanda's public education system. The education system focuses on reading, writing and arithmetic and does not equip children with the skills needed to understand, adapt and respond to the needs of the community. Isaie has always wanted to help low- and middle-income children experience the quality of education that he himself was never able to enjoy. While working as a kindergarten teacher in 2006, he campaigned to start a school with a different approach to education for middle-income families. Although his colleagues did not support him, he slowly prepared the journey by saving money and buying land.

Project description

In 2020, Isaie finally opened a kindergarten with an integrated educational approach that focuses on 3 main topics: Individual Child Focused Education (ICFE), Creative Art Drive Education (CADE) and School Parents Interaction Education (SPIE). Isaie started operations with just one classroom and 3 children and managed to reach 3 classrooms with 20 children within a year. The parents appreciated the pedagogical approach and asked for expansion to primary level as it was difficult to find an elementary school with a similar methodology. At their request, Isaie is planning to offer primary education from Year 1 to Year 4 from 2023.

Isaie involves his family in the business, he himself is a director and his wife works as an accountant in his company. Isaie sees the BPN program as an opportunity to use business know-how and coaching to achieve his business goals and make the right decisions in his day-to-day business. Isaie is very decisive and places great importance on having a positive impact on the community.
