Bakery & Confectionery

Olivier S.

Olivier, a new father, lives on the outskirts of Kigali and has set up a bakery in his home. There he produces tasty breads and patisserie. Olivier learned the bakery trade in Belgium. He decided to return to Rwanda 5 years ago to diversify the bakery market in Rwanda and already had the idea of starting his own business. When it proved impossible to work with supermarkets, he finally started selling his baked goods from his own small kiosk. He wisely chose a location near a busy store with a wealthy clientele.

Project description

Olivier quickly received encouraging feedback on the quality of his products and noticed a need for seating. He plans to expand the kiosk with seating. Once this location is established, Olivier plans to multiply the same concept in other affluent neighborhoods in Kigali. In the future, he would also like to offer apprenticeships to promote young baking enthusiasts. He uses old but high-quality equipment in his business.

At BPN, he has already learned to concentrate on his business model and to rethink costly adventures, such as opening additional stores in other cities, and to focus on the core business for the time being. Olivier has mastered his craft and pays attention to detail - from production to the packaging of the goods. There is still potential in the areas of finance and staff management. We look forward to accompanying Olivier in his further development.
