Angelo I.

When Angelo's wife went into labor, they went to the hospital at 8:15 am. They didn't get through to a doctor until 4pm. They went through 5 windows where they were almost always asked the same questions. Nurses and receptionists asked questions and left again to look for more papers. In the end, they lost their baby. Angelo was so sad and disappointed that he started to think about how many lives were lost through this medical system. He realized that hospitals and clinics needed a patient information management system to facilitate the registration and payment processes.

Project description

Angelo was sitting in a hotel lobby programming when a doctor came up to him and asked him what he was doing. He gave him a brief overview of the problem he was trying to solve with his company, a system for electronic patient records. The doctor was convinced by the idea and asked for a partnership. Angelo's partner has a clinic that made the company's trials possible.

Currently, 15 clinics in Rwanda are using Angelo's software. Angelo's vision is to work with 100 clinics in 5 years; he wants to become the leading provider of technology-based solutions for the medical sector. Angelo knows many successful entrepreneurs who have gone through the BPN program. He wants to benefit from them because he believes that BPN knows what entrepreneurs need to succeed. Angelo is well educated and has experience in the IT industry. His motivation makes him strive to change the medical sector, and the BPN program can help him build a sustainable business that will have the long-term impact he wants.
