Honey production

Santos F.

The 33-year-old Santos grew up in the countryside, where he worked as a farmhand and came into contact with bees. He started out as a hobby with his own hive - a wild swarm, which he was able to catch after a long time and many attempts outdoors. Santos enthusiastically devoured all the literature he could find on bees. He was particularly fascinated by the intelligence of these animals. He caught more swarms, produced honey and his bee colonies and yields grew steadily. Even then, he had the vision of one day being able to package and sell his honey professionally. Along the way, Santos continued his education in industry, processes and food and worked in a factory.

Project description

In 2012, Santos took part in a UN program for beekeepers, in which he won and invested further in his business with a loan of USD 2,300. In 2013, he worked for an international honey producer, where he learned how to process honey in large quantities. Since 2018, he has been working completely independently and exclusively in his own business. He now runs 200 beehives.

Santos has recognized that he needs help with administration. He therefore turned to BPN and is very grateful for the tools that help him to make professional and well-founded decisions. In the future, Santos would like to maintain 500 beehives and sell large quantities of honey. He can also imagine producing and selling products such as pollen, beehives and beekeeping clothing.
