Hotel and coffee shop

Esther S.

At the young age of 30, Esther has already undergone a number of professional developments: as a qualified lawyer, she worked for the public prosecutor's office before switching to a coffee shop and taking over the management there. In 2015, she and a business partner opened a hotel, which was expanded to include a coffee shop. Business was going well until the political unrest in 2018. Due to the unrest, her business partner at the time left Nicaragua and the tourism sector also came to a virtual standstill. She was forced to close the business.

Project description

In 2019, Esther finally started a new business at the same location with capital and the support of her husband. She reopened the coffee shop in Leon. Due to the difficult circumstances in Nicaragua, Esther was looking for additional help. This is how she found out about BPN and became a participant in our training program. Esther was somewhat shocked when she learned how to calculate her "real" finances. However, she was motivated to start drawing up a business plan. Thanks to BPN's support, she recognized her weak points and now knows what she still needs to work on.

With the help of BPN, Esther is currently working on concrete sales measures and a clear definition of the market segment. Her commitment is already bearing fruit and she was recently able to reopen the hotel section. With her products, design and organic approach to coffee and food, she wants to attract foreign tourists again in the long term. In the short term, however, she is concentrating on attracting national customers to her hotel and coffee shop.
