Leather goods

Nino K.

Nino is a trained educator and since 2021 managing director of her own leather manufactory. Initially, making leather bags was a hobby for Nino, which she did together with her neighbor Rusudan - a trained textile designer. They worked in a room she received from her husband, a former leather producer, with a large stock of leather.

Project description

After producing a few prototypes, Nino began selling her bags at exhibitions and via Facebook. The positive response from customers encouraged her to develop more bags. Thanks to savings and a grant from a government program, Nino was able to expand her machinery step by step and hire an additional seamstress on an hourly wage for larger orders. In the meantime, the initial hobby turned into a small business.

The range includes shopping bags, handbags, laptop bags, belts, bracelets, glasses cases and leather wallets. The main customer segment includes young people with middle incomes, but also customers who appreciate individualism, practical design and handmade bags from local production. The biggest challenge for Nino at the moment is the low level of awareness on the Georgian market. She wants to improve the content and visuals of her marketing. To achieve this, Nino has already attended numerous BPN training courses on business plan development, social media marketing and positive communication.
