Bakery and catering

Phati B.

Ten years ago, Phati founded Georgia's first social enterprise in the form of a bakery and catering service in Gori. The company provides disadvantaged women, such as single parents, victims of violence and refugees, with vocational training and a regular income. Even though the social enterprise has been running successfully for ten years, Phati realized during the Covid-19 crisis that she could make some changes to her business. That's why she decided to join the BPN program.

Project description

The in-house bakery's main range includes various types of bread, typical Georgian specialties and confectionery. There are also fast food dishes such as pizza, hot dogs and burgers. In the catering sector, the business specializes in organizing banquets, catering for corporate events and fasting meals. When processing its products, it is very important to it to buy and use only local and healthy food. Its customers include employees of the Gori city administration, local companies, non-governmental organizations, private households and schoolchildren.

In the pandemic year, Phati's business suffered due to the loss of the catering business. However, she is confident that her social enterprise will soon see better times again thanks to high-quality food, excellent service and a good reputation with long-standing customers.

Phati plans to add a café to the bakery. This should provide additional employment opportunities for disadvantaged women and girls. Courses in the preparation of Georgian dishes for international tourists are also being considered.
