Change Country Director Mongolia

After 8 years there is a change: René Luchsinger takes over the position of Country Director in Mongolia and succeeds Markus Epper.

As of mid-May, René Luchsinger will take up his work at the BPN Foundation and contribute his extensive know-how to the new challenge. We look forward to shaping the future together with him. We would like to thank Markus Epper for his outstanding commitment over the past years as Country Director Mongolia. His commitment and passion have been instrumental in strengthening and successfully expanding BPN in Mongolia.

Born in Switzerland and partly raised in Brazil, I was drawn abroad after my education. As a technician, I had the privilege to travel around the globe for Swiss companies, gaining valuable experience. On the side, after successfully graduating from a commercial school, I trained as a marketing planner and completed a degree in leadership at the renowned Institute of Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen. I am also pleased to hold a Master's degree in Advanced Business Communications HWZ (MAS) as well as diplomas as a leadership coach and consultant (ICI).

During my career I worked first in middle management levels and later as director and CEO. During this time, I spent extended periods in countries such as Brazil, Australia and the USA and was also able to get to know most Asian cultures on numerous business and private trips to Asia. My strengths lie in the areas of leadership, business administration, international business development, as well as sales and marketing.

I live near Zurich and have a wonderful 27-year-old daughter. In my free time I like to be outdoors, read good books and spend time with friends. Chocolate, raclette and fondue are my favorite treats 🙂 .

I have always had the privilege of supporting inspiring small businesses. It has touched me endlessly to work with the local team in the right place to foster development and growth in a sustainable way. Everything we see in our entrepreneurs and business owners today is the result of their dream and potential. They have the ambition and perseverance to be a champion in their industry. Despite many ups and downs. I am thankful for all the personal, year-long and trusting relationships. Small businesses are building the future of Mongolia. I am proud of that!

After 8 years as Country Director Mongolia, it is time for me to go new ways for private reasons. I am taking over the operational management of services at the Swiss Federal Railways SBB. I will be responsible for national services at the stations, for travelers with reduced mobility and the lost property service.

10 years of BPN Mongolia are just the beginning. BPN is ready for the further journey. I thank all donors who make our work possible. Helping people to help themselves is never a one-way street. Whoever helps, always gets something back.
