The entrepreneur holds a bachelor’s degree in tourism and hospitality and initially gained professional experience at a government development organization. Driven by her personal passion for animal husbandry, Niyoyita later transitioned into agriculture and founded her own pig farm in 2017.

What began with seven pigs has, over the past few years, grown into a farm with over 500 animals. In addition to pig breeding and meat production, she has specialized in improved breeding breeds and the provision of boar semen. She supplies farms in various regions of Rwanda. Her entrepreneurial journey demonstrates how consistently she has built an integrated farm from a small agricultural project.

Project description

The farm combines pig breeding, meat production, and in-house feed production. In 2024, a slaughterhouse was also opened, with a processing capacity of up to 4.25 metric tons of pork per day. The products are delivered to supermarkets and butcher shops throughout the country.

To reduce its reliance on outside feed, the farm grows several hectares of corn and soybeans for its own feed production.

In the coming years, the entrepreneur plans to streamline the business so that it can operate with increasing independence from her daily presence. At the same time, she aims to further expand breeding operations and meat production and tap into additional markets. BPN supports her in these efforts, particularly in the areas of leadership, business and financial management, and strategic planning.
