With extensive hands-on experience in the coffee industry gained through vocational training and more than 5 years working as a barista and barista trainer, John's deep passion for preparing and enjoying coffee inspired him to open his own café in 2017. The first branch was strategically opened in a very touristy area near the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda to cater to the growing number of tourists coming for volcano hiking and gorilla trekking as the tourism offering in Rwanda has increased significantly in recent years.
Determined to take advantage of new opportunities and expand his business, John recently opened a second branch in Musanze, a bustling town in northern Rwanda. This new branch not only offers excellent coffee, but also a menu of local culinary delights to round off the cultural and gastronomic experience.
John personally trains his baristas to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and is actively working on plans to further improve their skills to meet the diverse tastes and expectations of customers from around the world.
John's vision for the future goes beyond building a strong brand and expanding into other tourist regions of Rwanda. He plans to launch 'Coffee Experiences', a comprehensive journey from farm to cup that aims to promote Rwandan coffee, create employment opportunities for young people and provide a unique tasting experience for international tourists. He is also looking to collaborate with service stations across the country to introduce coffee as a loyalty bonus for their customers.
Despite these ambitious goals, John faces challenges in financial management, securing stable sales and optimizing the entire business process. He hopes that BPN will provide him with the necessary financial management and business management skills.
