Shoe production

Diane N.

After completing her studies in business administration and marketing, Diane worked as a sales manager in a retail store that sells women's shoes and handbags from Dubai. Motivated by the high demand, Diane wondered if sandals and handbags could be made from local resources. However, Diane did not have sufficient knowledge about the manufacture of these products. After some research, the 29-year-old decided to start making sandals and attend a training program. Diane found a suitable course at Uzuri K&Y, a leading sandal manufacturing company in Rwanda. Uzuri K&Y is also a "BPN company".

Project description

Diane then quit her job and founded her own company in 2019. She started production in the extension of her parents' house and sold her products via social media, especially Instagram. As her customer base grew, she rented a 4-room workshop and a showroom. Today, Diane already produces 350-400 pairs of shoes per day. Her customers include middle-class men and women from Kigali.

Diane had already attended the business management seminar at BPN. She then decided to clearly define her vision and focus on it. In the future, she would like to expand the range with leather handbags. She plans to increase the number of employees and integrate modern machinery into her company. Diane has an entrepreneurial spirit, is very committed and has a talent for sales. The satisfaction of her customers is her daily incentive to go the extra mile in her business.
