Peanut butter production

Arnaud N.

Arnaud grew up with his mother in Burundi, a neighboring country of Rwanda. His mother worked there as a social worker in an organization that fights poverty and malnutrition. In her job, she saw that people lacked a complete diet with sufficient protein. She realized that bread needed another ingredient to make it more nutritious. So she came up with the idea of making peanut butter that could be spread on bread to improve nutrition.

Project description

In 1998, Arnaud's mother returned to Rwanda and started making peanut butter for her friends. This developed into setting up her own business in 2016, selling her products mainly to private individuals, restaurants, hotels, boarding schools and supermarkets in Kigali. However, Arnaud's mother is no longer the youngest. That's why Arnaud quit his job as a journalist at the national broadcaster, where he worked as a news reporter, to take over his mother's business.

Arnaud supports his mother in marketing and selling products while gaining experience in business management. He wants to develop the family business into a leading organic peanut butter producer. He is working on setting up a company structure that will enable him to run the company himself in his mother's absence.

Arnaud has a passion for making peanut butter and has already gained a lot of experience in this area through his mother. He wants to expand the business and make it sustainable. He is taking part in the BPN program to acquire entrepreneurial skills that will help him develop his business professionally.
