"Deel" tailoring

Open

Bolor T.

Bolor followed her dream and completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in design straight after leaving school. She worked as a designer for several years and founded her own tailoring business in 2007. Back then, she only made clothes to order. Over time, she found her strength in sewing deel, a traditional Mongolian garment. Since then, she has focused on Deel. In 2013, she started offering deel sewing classes. And in 2018, she launched her own deel brand and offers ready-made deels to her customers.

Project description

Today, Bolor offers a wide range of chiffon deels on the Mongolian market. The unique selling point of her products is the cut and the material. She has the advantage over other tailors that she can calculate the cut without having to wear a pattern. The chiffon material is lighter, more breathable and cheaper than silk. This makes the Deel a comfortable garment suitable for everyday wear, something that did not exist before. The most important materials are imported from abroad. Only the trims are available locally.

Bolor rents 400 square meters for production and retail. She uses this space to run a boutique, a sewing workshop and a course room. As a further source of income and also as advertising, she regularly organizes cutting and sewing courses. The courses are very popular and are also advertised on Facebook. Bolor also imports fashion magazines from countries such as Germany, Italy and France, as there are very few professional fashion books in Mongolia. In the future, Bolor would like to expand its product range and thus increase its market by also producing Deel for men and children.
