Musical instruments

Nurlan N.

Nurlan is 56 years old, married and the father of 2 grown-up daughters. He has been a professional musician and music teacher for over 30 years. In recent years, he has discovered his passion for making instruments, which he does in a separate workshop on his large property next to his home. He specializes in wooden and clay flutes and other traditional Kyrgyz wind instruments. Each of his instruments is carefully handcrafted from local Kyrgyz raw materials. The quality of his wooden flutes and chopo-chors (clay flutes) has already earned him several requests and commissions from fellow musicians.

Project description

Although Nurlan has mainly sold by word of mouth so far, he would like to receive valuable impulses for the development of his marketing as part of the BPN program. Instrument making has become his main occupation. That's why he took the plunge into self-employment and expanded his range. Today, not only his wife and occasionally his daughters work in his workshop, but also music students. In the future, Nurlan plans to expand his workshop and take on more employees. Expanding his sales channels, in particular by setting up a web store for worldwide shipping, is a key project.

After successfully completing the BPN seminar "Fundamentals of Business Management", Nurlan's presentation of his business plan was so convincing that he won a Swatch watch as the best participant in the seminar. We are delighted to accompany Nurlan on his journey from musician and instrument maker to small business owner.
